Its ingredients
The active ingredient is doxycycline, an antibiotic from the cyclin family. Antibiotics work by killing bacteria that cause disease.

Its way of administration
- Orally with or without food with a glass of water.
- Be careful, drugs containing doxycycline pose a risk of injury from prolonged contact with the lining of the esophagus. Therefore, they must be swallowed with plenty of water to reach the stomach.

In general, for chlamydia, the dosage is as follows:

This medication should not be used:
- If you are allergic to cyclins.
- For children under 8 years old.

Side effects
Most medications have side effects. The most common side effect of antibiotics is the onset of diarrhea. However, they should be short-lived. Stop treatment and see your doctor if there are too many.

Precautions
Doxycycline and the sun
This antibiotic has a photosensitizing effect: that is, it overreacts to the skin when exposed to the sun, which can cause severe sunburn. Therefore, it is highly recommended to avoid exposure to sunlight during treatment.
Doxycycline and pregnancy
This medicine can cause subsequent dental abnormalities in the unborn child. Contraindicated during the last 6 months of pregnancy.
Doxycycline and breastfeeding
For the same reasons as mentioned above, there is a risk of dental abnormalities and, in particular, the risk of staining teeth in infants. You are strongly advised to stop breastfeeding during treatment.
Interaction with other medications
- Doxycycline should not be taken in combination with medicines containing retinoids.
- Also tell your doctor if you are taking a digestive dressing, anticoagulant, antiepileptic drug based on carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, or primidone.
